What is a "translation certified by an attorney," and how does it differ from general translation?

This is where the attorney who performs signature and document certification (Notarial Services Attorney) issues a certification relating to the translation — for example, certifying the accuracy of the translation as reviewed, or certifying the translator's signature or declaration. The form of certification depends on what the recipient requires. This differs from general translation, which is not accompanied by any certification.

Can a certified translation be used abroad immediately?

Certification by an attorney is certification at the point of origin. In many cases, the destination may still require the document to be certified by the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and in some countries, an additional layer of certification by the destination country's embassy — a step the document owner must complete directly with those agencies. The office does not carry out this step. You should check in advance the form and process of certification required by the recipient, since an attorney's certification does not always guarantee that the receiving agency will accept the document.

How much does translation cost, and how long does it take?

Fees and turnaround time depend on the type and number of pages of the document. You may send the document to the office for an assessment and inquire about the details before work begins.
